The beginning of a new year is a good time to have a look back at the year that has passed, to analyse what we achieved, think where we still have room for improvement and make a plan how to realize that.

Last year we celebrated the 10th anniversary of our vacation rental activity and the 5th anniversary of the completion of apartment Lavender. The season behind us was the best we had until now, despite the global crisis. Our guests seem to have recognized all the effort and love that we are putting into this work.

Although we are only now starting with reservations for this year, we have already received many enquiries. This is an indication of another great season ahead of us. If you would like to spend your vacations here, we would suggest you to reserve your apartment soon, particularly if you choose the summer months that normally fill up fastest. The priority will be given to those who were our guests in the past, along with several other privileges.

Last year

Before we inform you about the news we are preparing for the upcoming season, let us review the last year's improvements of our offer.

Patio redesign

The patio in front of the house has always been the favourite spot of our guests. Barbecue, summer kitchen and tables for lunch are all situated in that area, as well as a bench with soft pillows and a hammock for relaxation after a nice meal. To make sure the patio is well shaded in a hot summer afternoon and protected in case of rain, we constructed a solid wooden canopy with tiled roof. You will find the outdoor curtains useful in case of wind or if you wish to turn the patio into an intimate "booth". We paved the floor in order to lay the stone this year, for easier cleaning and nicer setting. We equipped the patio with new wooden chairs, cushions, table cloth and mats, a large serving tray and other utensils.

More comfort in apartment Lavender

With a large dishwasher (12 sets capacity) you will have more time to enjoy your vacation. You might find useful the new electrical oven, a microwave oven and an espresso maker (in addition to the filter coffee maker). Old kitchen bar was replaced with a new one, in high-gloss red finish. For the better home cinema experience, the old 55 cm (21") TV was substituted with a 72 cm (29") Sony. Guests with small children will appreciate the children's high chair (along with the baby bed). The balcony table and chairs were replaced by a new balcony set in white lacquered wood.

Free Internet access

A computer with 24h Internet connection in apartment Lavender proved to be one of the most useful enhancements. Our guests regularly used it for reading their e-mail, staying in touch with friends and family, checking the weather forecast, etc.

Using Internet is free of charge with no volume limits.

Bathroom redecoration and other news in apartment Rustico

After the makeover of rooms that was done two years ago, the next step was the bathroom redecoration. Some of the news are the built-in basin and shelves, a shower cabin and a fixed wall mirror framed with mosaic tiles in shades of red.

The kitchen of apartment Rustico was equipped with a coffee maker and a grill sandwich toaster. The bedrooms were embellished with new curtains and with several charming details.

New equipment for the swimming pool

A solar pool heating system was installed to warm up the water in the colder days out of season.

A cleaning robot is now in charge of keeping the pool clean, by vacuuming the leaves that fall in. Its self-guided slow circular movements along the pool's bottom draw children's attention and surprise :-)

Other news

We layered a new coat of paint on the balcony fences to bring back the gloss that the sun and salty sea breeze have taken away in the past four years. A new bicycle now accompanies its two years older "brother". A baggage trolley eases the transfer of your baggage to the apartment. On the beach in front of the house we mounted a stainless steel ladder for easy access to the sea.

Season 2010

This year we will try to introduce even more new services. We want to make sure you do not miss absolutely anything during your vacations.

Electrical swimming pool heating system and solar cover

In addition to the solar heating system we will install an electrical one, to further extend the swimming season. Now the water should achieve pleasant temperature much earlier than the sea becomes warm enough for comfortable swimming. The pool will also be equipped with a solar cover to improve the heating efficiency.

Patio pavement

In order to complete the patio redesign that was started last year with construction of the canopy, it still remains to pave the floor with selected smooth natural "Benkovac" stones.

Cooking for guests

All our guests have the chance to experience the culinary talent of their host Ive at their welcome lunch. Many of them then asked if they could enjoy his cuisine more often. With Ive's recent retirement this became possible - you will get a chance to order what and when to eat from the menu with Ive's specialties (seafood, meat, vegetables) and then he will come to cook for you using the barbecue and the summer kitchen. Your lunch or dinner can be served on the patio or by the pool.

Boat trips and day/night fishing

After Ive taught them of fishing techniques, some of our guests expressed their interest to join him. That motivated us to renovate our 6-meter long boat with cabin so we could enrich our offer with several kinds of fishing trips.

We also plan to offer half-day and full-day boat trips to the neighbouring islands, visits to national parks of Kornati and Krka, a tour of the marine fortress of St. Nicolas, etc. Besides the swimming at the most beautiful beaches of this part of Adriatic, the trips will include lunch, fruit and drinks of your choice.

Other planned enhancements:

- decoration of the facade with white stones

- renovation of the summer kitchen incl. installation of a dish washer

- a microwave oven in apartment Rustico too

- new movies for the DVD collection

- a rain hovel above the apartment Lavender's entrance

- new deck-chairs by the pool (wooden)

- a semi-professional telescope for exploring the stars and distant galaxies

(the sky above the Kaprije island is rich with stars, thanks to low light pollution)

In the following few months our Internet site will get a new introduction page, a content update and new photos. Beside that, the pages will be reorganized to ease the navigation.

Update of the on-line version of Book of Impressions

We will upload all comments you wrote last year to our Books of Impressions that are placed in both apartments. In case you disagree with having your comment published on the Web, please let us know.

If you have not written anything to the Book of Impressions after your stay in our apartment, send us your comment via e-mail. Your opinion is very valuable and it helps us to improve our offer.
